Safari Zoo Camp is proud to introduce the new Camp Directors, Thuja and J-Raf! Both have been rigorously planning a variety of innovative programs to encourage participants to take on new challenges and build upon their individual skills.
Thuja:
Thuja is tremendously excited to embark on many new adventures with campers from previous summers, and is equally as excited to welcome some new faces to the Zoo Camp community. She hopes to inspire campers to get actively involved in maintaining the health of the Earth's natural environment, while encouraging them to respect fellow individuals and create lifelong friendships. Having spent time volunteering to help impoverished communities in Ecuador, she has witnessed first hand the importance of education in regards to environmental protection and conservation.
J-Raf:
After a two year hiatus, J-Raf is back at Zoo Camp and can't wait to reunite with the staff, the animals...and of course the campers! Since his departure in 2007, he has continued on in an unending quest to understand the nature of our relationship with the earth and each other. He believes that in order to live in harmony with other living beings and the planet which sustains us (physically, emotionally, and spiritually), we must first strive to understand each other as human beings. He hopes to combine Zoo Camp's unique brand of wildlife education and camper engagement with a continued focus on nature conservation from the perspective of impoverished human communities. Most importantly, he wants share his passion for nature, adventure and exploration with both campers and staff!
